Panajachel

(Lake Atitlan)

Being urged by my little German friend and others to not leave Guatemala without having visited Lake Atitlan, I decided to give it a go. It was just about a 2 hour ride on a tourist shuttle. You be the judge of that one.

Riding in and walking to the Hostel I took these and liked what I saw.

As soon as I dropped my gear in my room, I headed out with my camera to catch the evening light.

Interestingly, I took no pictures of Panajachel itself, but there are pictures on the guesthouse page

When I came back from San Pedro, I ran into these Belgians again, the same ones I returned with from Copan - not that they cared, except the one on the left. A ballet instructor, btw, I sat next to and traded seats with on the bus, so that she could sleep, and gave my windbreaker to wear, so that she would be warm. The others were just pretty kids, anyway. I took them to Santander Street, where the shops and restaurants are, and that was it.

The next morning I left and managed to grab a few parting shots on the way out of there.
